This modern backyard in Williamsburg needed to additional privacy and coverage in two shade areas. I selected trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials that would thrive in the shade of the yard. Inspired by the client's love of cooking with herbs, I planted the deck planters with edible flowers, basil, mint, chives and other plants that would endure and thrive in the bright hot conditions of the deck.
